National Cadet Corps

About NCC:

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the Indian Military Cadets Corps with its Head Quarter in New Delhi. It is the largest uniformed youth organization of the world established in 1948 by the National Cadet Corps Act, 1948, under the Ministry of Defense (MOD). It is open for the students of colleges and schools on voluntary basis as a Tri-Services Organisation, comprising the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. It is a youth development movement providing opportunities to the youth of the country for their all-round development with a sense of Duty, Commitment, Dedication, Discipline and Moral Values. The Motto of NCC is ‘Unity and Discipline’, which was adopted on 23rd December, 1957. This esteemed organization is engaged primarily in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens.

Aims of NCC:

The aims of NCC laid out in 1988 have stood the test of time and continue to meet the requirements expected of it in the current socio-economic scenario of the country. NCC aims to:

  • Develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership and secular outlook, spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst the young citizens.
  • Create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth to provide leadership qualities in all walks of life including Armed Forces, who will serve the nation regardless of which career they choose.
  • Create sustainable environment to motivate the youth to keep up a career in Armed Forces.

Mission and Vision:

Mission: To develop leadership and character qualities, mould discipline and nurture social integration and cohesion through multi faceted programs conducted in a military environment.

Vision: To empower youth volunteers to become potential leaders and become responsible citizens of the country.

NCC in the College:

The NCC Unit of H.C.D.G. College was formed on 9th October, 2021 in the presence of Lieutenant Commander Rajesh Bhujel, Commanding Officer, 49 Assam Naval Unit, Sivasagar, Assam. This day is observed as the ‘Raising Day’ of NCC Unit in our college. The present strength of the cadets is 30 including both 1st and 2nd year cadets and the sanctioned strength of cadets is 50, which is expected to be achieved by the end of the training year 2023-24. The NCC Unit of the College presently functions with 49 Assam Naval Unit, NCC, Sivasagar.
