Challenges of the Department-
It is a challenge for the department to generate interest among students who mostly come from vernacular medium schools.
The household environment of the students are quite inconvenient as most of them belong to BPL.
Equally challenging is to expose such students to the diverse world of literature and make them appreciate a piece of literature critically. Hence, less students prefer to opt for English Literature as theirHonours Course.
Suggestions to overcome the challenges-
The challenges can be well taken by the department by offering remedial classes and introducing them to communicative English.
The department has organized workshops, special talk programmes on structural grammar, literature, literature and film, enactment of drama etc. by inviting the students of nearby schools. More such programmes would be organized among the students of feeder schools.
